2008 SUMMER CAMP OFFERINGS

We are offering two five-day camps in July and one five-day camp in August for children entering grades 4-8.  Each camp will run Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.  You may sign your child up for more than one camp.  As usual, we will be offering our Monday-Thursday end-of-summer half-day camps the weeks of August 18-21 and August 25-28, for children entering grades K-3.  You may sign your child up for one or two weeks.  Enrollment is limited, and pre-registration and pre-payment are required to hold a place.

Eco-Travel Camps (5 days each)
July 14-18  for children entering 4-5 and August 11-15 for children entering 6-8 10am-4:30pm
Maximum enrollment:  10, Fee:  Members  $300, Non-members  $350
Each day we will visit a different aquatic site, including Long Island Sound, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation and the Hudson River.  Children will have the opportunity to get their hands wet and dirty as they hike and explore our local watersheds.

Adventure Camp (5 days)  July 21-25 10am-4:30pm
Grade:  Entering 4-7, Maximum enrollment:  10, Fee:  Members  $300, Non-members  $350
Activities will include survival techniques, fire building, map and compass skills, hiking, and more.  Program includes visits to various other nature preserves.

WEEKDAY PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Children should be dressed for outdoor activity for all the classes listed below.
 Except in extreme conditions, a portion of each class is spent outdoors, regardless of the weather.

DROP-IN CLASSES (No pre-registration or pre-payment required)

NATURE BUGS, for children 2-5 years old
naturebug.gifNature discovery for youngsters, with a parent or caregiver.  Join us as we look for signs of summer on the lawn and in the gardens.  We’ll also meet a museum animal each week and do a craft or nature game.  
Mondays: 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
June 9, 16, 23, July 7, 14, 21, 28, September 8, 15, 22, 29

Tuition per class:    Members: $5 adult; $4 child.  Non-members: $8 adult; $7 child.

CRITTERS, CRAFTS And KIDS, for children aged 1½-5 years old
cck2.gifChildren and parents or caregivers come for an hour of nature fun.  Enjoy lazy hazy summer days at the Center with walks, live animals and stories. 
Wednesdays: 10 - 11 a.m.
